today.

so today, in about 18 hours from now, i will be on the plane heading over the atlantic to my new home for the next 4 months. it's finally here. i can't even believe that it's finally here. i've waited so long for this. and now it's happening.

i spent the whole day packing up my life into the two suitcases i'm allowed to bring on the plane. surprisingly i fit everything in, and managed to keep one under 50lbs. go me! the other one is over, but we knew that was going to happen. it's about 58lbs, which isn't horrible at all. i really thought it was going to be worse. i even managed to pack only 9 pairs of shoes. that was my ultimate accomplishment. we'll see how living with 9 pairs of shoes is going to be. i figure i'll wind up buying leather books and heels over there anyway. haha. but seriously, my mom is such a great packer. i don't know how the hell i'm going to be able to put all this stuff back in my luggage on the way home. guess i'll be sending lots of stuff back to the states beforehand.

i said goodbye to the family also. i was going to say goodbye to everyone at once right before i left for the airport, but that would have been way too much for me to handle. so i went over to nonna's and told her she needed to stick around so that i can bring her back a pair of shoes. it was really heartbreaking for me to see her and my family cry, and it makes me feel so guilty for leaving all the time. i just hope they understand why i need to do this and i hope that they will be okay. i'm praying to god that my grandmother hangs in there for as long as possible so i can bring her back those shoes.

that's about it. i'm going to bed now. or rather, am attempting to go to sleep now bc its going to be a long day tomorrow. next time you'll be hearing from me i'll be in roma!! =)
